November sees the Studio host a production of Brian Friel’s rarely performed one act drama ‘Afterplay’. ‘It’s a wonderfully simple and evocative title’ says director Neil Chapman ‘because the play simply revisits the lives of two characters that had a previous existence in two separate Chekhov plays. They meet by chance, for one evening, twenty years after their past fictional life’. 

‘It’s funny and very moving and you don’t need to know anything about Anton Chekhov’ confirms Neil. ‘It is Brian Friel at his best, talking about our dreams and all our possibilities’.  

The production will star two of Newport Playgoers favourite performers, Eileen Symonds and Bruce Campbell and follows on from Neil’s previous success with ‘I Take Your Hand In Mine’ which was invited to Caerleon College for a performance for its drama and creative writing students.

The play is on from 12^th to 14^th November, tickets cost £5 and are available form the Dolman Box Office and on the door on the night.
